forced decluttering...

Alas, it's pretty much going to be forced decluttering for me over the next couple weeks (and maybe even months). I'm getting the "big" stuff out and into my new room in a couple of weeks, but I'll have to sort through everything else as well. Ki said I could do it slowly (over a couple of months) and I believe that's about how long it will take me...

Wish me luck!

Clothes help!

I'm going to be moving in a couple of weeks, but maybe I should do this until then. The thing is, I know I wear the same stuff to work, because it's so early and I'm lazy, but I actually *like* the other things as well, or else they are dress shirts.

Tip #104

Here's a neat way to assess which clothes really deserve
space in your closet: first, turn all of your hangers so
they hook over the rod from back to front (this is the
opposite to how we usually put things away). Then, every
time you wear something and put it back in the closet, hang
it with the hook over the rod from front to back.

Do this for a month, and you'll see that all the hangers
facing in are clothes that you actually wear, and the
hangers pointing out are clothes that aren't getting much
use. Some will be seasonal or special-event items that you
do have occasional use for. Others will simply be old,
outdated, the wrong size, don't go with anything else you
own, or just wrong for you. Get rid of them.

Stay focused,

Tip #101

Tip #101

'Good' stuff is the hardest to get rid of, because it looks
so useful or potentially useful, or valuable, or just
sentimental. Ask yourself:

- "Do I really love this and need to keep it, or would
someone else love to have it more?"

- "Do I already have three of these? Do I know where they
are?"

- "Does this fit my current body, life style or ideas of
who I am or who I would like to become?"

It's okay to keep some things of sentimental value, but do
you really need to give that size 4 prom dress space in
your closet, or do you have a pressed flower or program or
a picture of you in that dress that recalls that great
night just as well?

Happy clutter-clearing,

Blame the decluttering...

I always read that decluttering makes stuck energy move. My relationship of 10+ years is ending, just when the house is getting to be halfway decent. It's not my choice to end things & so part of me thinks it'd have been better for that energy to remain stuck, stuck, stuck. Sheesh.

Another fine tip...

Tip #94

The better you get at managing physical clutter, the more
you will realize that managing your time, energy, and focus
are the real challenges that crop up every day. What have
you learned about yourself through the process of tackling
your clutter, and how can you apply that insight to setting
goals that will help you more fully realize your potential?

Congratulations on your progress!,
